Taiping Rebellion
A Rebelião Taiping, também conhecida como Guerra Civil Taiping ou Revolução Taiping (1851-1864) foi um dos conflitos mais sangrentos da história, um confronto entre as forças da China imperial e um grupo inspirado por um místico autoproclamado, chamado Hong Xiuquan (ou Hung Hsiu-ch’uan) (1814-1864), que era cristão e também intitulava-se irmão de Jesus Cristo. Seu objetivo era criar uma nova cultura, substituindo a tradição confucionista e budista pela sua visão de cristianismo - moldado conforme as suas ideias.
