The Independent is a completed residential skyscraper in Austin, Texas. At a height of 690 ft (210 m), it is the tallest building in the city, surpassing the 683 ft (208 m) tall Austonian, another residential skyscraper. It is the tallest residential building in the United States west of the Mississippi River. The design of the tower's crown has been criticized, to the extent of a protest group named Fix The Crown being created in March 2019.
