Thewet Naruemit Bridge
Thewet Naruemit Bridge is a historic bridge over canal Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem in downtown Bangkok at Samsen Road, and also called in short as "Thewet". Its name is also a name of surrounding area. King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) ordered the Department of Public Works to construction, the King gaved the name "Thewet Naruemit Bridge", the term "Thewet" in Thai means "great deity", refers to "The Bridge Built by Lord Shiva", one of three supreme gods of Hinduism. When completed King Chulalongkorn gave the opening ceremony on June 30, 1899, it is regarded as the first bridge built to cross Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem during his reign.
