Thomas Somerset, 1st Viscount Somerset

Thomas Somerset, 1st Viscount Somerset (1579–1651) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1601 and 1611. He was raised to the Peerage of Ireland in 1626. Somerset was the third son of Edward Somerset, 4th Earl of Worcester. In 1601, Somerset was elected Member of Parliament for Monmouthshire. He became a member of Gray's Inn on 7 August 1604. In 1604 he was re-elected MP for Monmouthshire and sat until 1611. He was knighted as Knight of Bath on 5 January 1605. He took part in the tournament for Prince Henry, Prince Henry's Barriers in January 1610.
