The original single version was released in October 1978. In 1979, it was reworked and re-recorded as a new lead single from the band's second studio album, Don't Throw Stones (1979), the song peaked at number 35 on the Australian Kent Music Report. The song was released in the United States and peaked at number 45 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1979 and appeared in an episode of WKRP in Cincinnati.
