William Llewellyn

Sir Samuel Henry William Llewellyn GCVO PRA RBA RI (1 December 1858 – 28 January 1941) was a Welsh painter of the late 19th and early 20th centuries who served as President of the Royal Academy from 1928 to 1938. He was awarded the Albert Medal by the Royal Society of Arts in 1933. Llewellyn was born in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, in 1858. He was the son of English-born Welsh parents: Samuel Llewellyn, an engineer, and Alice Jennings. He married Marion Meates, daughter of T. M. Meates.
