In October 2000, the Brevard County portion of 407 became the 321 area code. Aside from the small portions of Volusia County (the Deltona area) which continued to use only 407, the remainder of 407 (Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties) was overlaid with the new 321 area code. In 2003, it was announced that all new phone numbers in the three counties would no longer be issued 321, although then-321 numbers in the Orlando metro area would keep that area code. In 2001, Deltona was switched to Area code 386 when 386 was split from 904. All of 407 is now overlaid with 321.
