Brown Scarp (78°4′S 161°24′E / 78.067°S 161.400°E) is a narrow wedgelike massif which has a notable southern escarpment but moderate northern slopes. The feature is 1.5 nautical miles (3 km) long and rises to 2,410 metres (7,900 ft) between Palais Glacier and Waddington Glacier in Victoria Land. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in 1994 after Arthur J. Brown, Deputy Program Director (1982–90), ITT Antarctic Services, Inc., corporate contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in Antarctica; from 1994, Head of Safety, Environment, and Health Implementation Team, Office of Polar Programs, NSF.
