Chowdhary Balbir Singh

Chaudhry Balbir Singh, from Hoshiarpur, Punjab joined the freedom struggle at the age of 17 in 1934. Born in a family of agriculturists he used his family printing press for propoganda against British Raj, he was jailed several times during the Raj. He was imprisoned in various jails till he was released in June 1977. In 1977 he contested the Lok Sabha elections on the Janata Party ticket and became a member of Parliament. He showed his disagreement with Khalistan movement during terrorism.
