Founded in 1971 — with the purpose of supplying the Brazilian refrigeration industry which, up until then, relied entirely on imported compressors — Embraco began production in 1974. It was in this same decade when it began to export to markets in the Americas. In the 1980s, the sales and distribution structure reached over 80 countries. Anticipating a globalized economy, the company decided to set up production bases overseas and soon became world leader; today it holds a 25% market share.
