Gansz Trophy

The Gansz Trophy was created in 2009 through a collaboration between the athletic departments of the United States Naval Academy and Southern Methodist University. The trophy is named for Frank Gansz who played linebacker at the Naval Academy from 1957 through 1959. Gansz later served on the coaching staffs at Colgate, Oklahoma State, SMU, Army, UCLA, Air Force and Navy as well as the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars.
