After entering the new millennium at this moment, Korean dramas have been popularly hitting the Philippines against Japanese anime and Filipino dramas since 2003, starting with GMA Network as the very first network to air Koreanovelas starting with Bright Girl; followed by rival network ABS-CBN as the main competitor for airing Korean dramas; as well as TV5 and other free-to-air television networks which they also worked to broadcast Korean dramas through Philippine television. Served as an anti-anime program, South Korean dramas is a business interest for airing foreign programs in the Philippines on its 21st century, which had already aired more than 200 Koreanovelas as of 2016.
