Legislative Council of Hong Kong
The Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Chinese: 香港特別行政區立法會; LegCo) is the unicameral legislature of Hong Kong, a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China. Before the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong in 1996, a Provisional Legislative Council (PLC) was set up by the Government of the People's Republic of China as compared to the 1995 elected colonial legislature. The PLC ceased to exist and was replaced after the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on 1 July 1997.
