Magdalena Avietėnaitė
Magdalena Avietėnaitė (22 December 1892 - 13 August 1984) was a Lithuanian journalist. In 1899 her family emigrated to the United States. She graduated from the University of Geneva and began editing the weekly Amerikos lietuvis (American Lithuanian). She returned to Lithuania in 1920. She worked in the Foreign Ministry, from 1924-1926, and later taught English at Vilnius University. In 1944 she fled the country and worked for the Lithuanian Red Cross from 1945-1948. In 1949 she moved back to the United States, where she worked at the University of Detroit.
