Written by Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Nate "Danja" Hills, "Miles Away" is a melancholy electronic ballad, which according to Madonna is autobiographical, and is inspired by her then husband Guy Ritchie. Lyrically, the song deals with long-distance relationships.
