Reggae Got Soul is the 10th album by Jamacian Reggae group Toots and the Maytals, released in july of 1976 by Island Records. Coming off the great reception of the album Funky kingston and that same year, making their American concert debut opening a tour for the Who, where their stateside audience gave Toots a cool reception Island hoped the 1976 album Reggae Got Soul,would open up Toots & the Maytals to the R&B audience in America, but while the album was well received, their American following remained little more than a lively cult. Toots & the Maytals focused on pleasing their Jamaican and British fans with their next two albums.
