Ulmus 'Fremont'

Ulmus 'Fremont' is a little-known American hybrid cultivar of unrecorded provenance, arising from the crossing of Ulmus pumila (female parent) × Ulmus rubra. The cultivar was possibly named for the town in Nebraska which accommodated the Plumfield Nurseries, known to have raised cultivars of the American Elm, U. americana 'Fremont' featured in trials begun in 1954 assessing trees for the USDA North Central 7 region.
