Owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group, it also operates NBC affiliate WEYI-TV (owned by Howard Stirk Holdings) and CW affiliate WBSF (owned by Cunningham Broadcasting). The station has studios on West Pierson Road in Mount Morris Township (though with a Flint address). Originally launched as an independent station in March 1985, it has been affiliated with Fox since the network's launch on October 9, 1986.
