With a record of 9-7, the team was unable to match the success of the previous season. Their season ended with a 17-10 loss to the New York Giants in the Wild Card round. Cris Carter and John Randle were named to play in the Pro Bowl after the season. It was the first Pro Bowl for both future Hall of Famers. Terry Allen, who had a breakout season last year, missed the entire season after tearing his ACL in practice.
