The 2005–06 season was Gateshead's second consecutive season in the Northern Premier League Premier Division and their 17th season in total since their reformation in 1977. Gateshead ended the season in 17th position, four points above the relegation places. Gateshead were removed from the FA Trophy after they played James Curtis, who was supposed to be serving a suspension, in their Second Qualifying Round match against Kidsgrove Athletic. Gateshead had won the match 1–0.
