Alan Rose

Sir Alan Edward Percival Rose (1899–1975) was the 30th Chief Justice of Ceylon. He was appointed in 1952 succeeding Edward Jayetileke and was Chief Justice until 1956. He was succeeded by Hema Henry Basnayake. He also served as Chief Justice of Singapore. Rose born in England in 1899, served 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade of the British Army in World War I. Return to England after the War, Rose became a lawyer and served in the Colonial Legal Service from 1929 to 1942 in Fiji, Rhodesia and Palestine. Rose return to England and died in 1975.
