Australia at the 1936 Winter Olympics

Australia's first appearance at the Winter Olympic Games was at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Australia sent one athlete, Kenneth Kennedy. Australian Frederick McEvoy captained the British bobsleigh team, and carried Britain's flag in the opening ceremony. The 4-man team won bronze, and the 2-man team came fourth. Turkey, Greece, Liechtenstein and Bulgaria also competed at the Winter Games for the first time in 1936.
