China Democratic League
The China Democratic League (simplified Chinese: 中国民主同盟; traditional Chinese: 中國民主同盟; pinyin: Zhōngguó Mínzhǔ Tóngméng, often abbreviated to 民盟 Mínméng) is one of the eight legally recognised political parties in the People's Republic of China. The League is mainly made up by middle-level and senior intellectuals in the fields of culture, education, science and technology. As of the end of 2012, the party had a membership of more than 230,000. Of this total, 56.6% were from the field of compulsory education, 17.7% were in science and technology.
