Domhnall mac Alasdair

Dòmhnall mac Alasdair (Anglicised: Donald, son of Alexander) was the eldest son of Alasdair Mòr Mac Dòmhnaill, the eponymous ancestor of Clan MacAlister. Dòmhnall, like many other nobles at the time, swore fealty to King Edward I of England in 1291, with his father and son Alasdair. During the Wars of Scottish Independence, he was allied along with his cousin Aonghas Óg, in support of Robert de Brus in Robert's campaign for the Scottish throne. It is not known whether Dòmhnall was part of Aonghas Óg's right flank at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314 in support of Robert I.
