The Embassy of Brazil in Washington, D.C. is the diplomatic mission of Brazil to the United States. The Chancery of the Embassy is located at 3006 Massachusetts Avenue NW Washington D.C., in the Embassy Row neighborhood. The United States was the first country to recognize Brazil's independence and the nation's first legation was thus established in Washington. It was founded January 1, 1824 when José Silvestre Rebello presented his credentials to President James Monroe. In 1905, the legation was raised to a full embassy.
