Fairfax High School is a public high school in Fairfax, Virginia. The school is owned by the City of Fairfax, but is operated by Fairfax County Public Schools as part of a contractual agreement. The school building, opened in 1972, is located on Old Lee Highway in eastern Fairfax City. In 2007, FHS underwent a $54 million renovation designed by architectural firm BeeryRio7. Renovations began in March 2005 and added 86,500 sq ft (8,040 m2). of classroom space. Student size has increased at such a high rate that 3 trailers have been installed.
