Khalkhal County

Khalkhal County (Persian: شهرستان خلخال‎‎), is a county in Ardabil Province in Iran. The capital of the county is Khalkhal. Most of Khalkhalis have Azeri origin. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 92,315, in 22,969 families. The county consists of three districts: the Central District, Khvor Rostam District, and Shahrud District. The county has three cities: Hashatjin, Kolowr, and Khalkhal. Majority of Khalkhal county are Azerbaijanis, but Tats are living in southern areas of county, especially in Shahrud District and Khvoresh Rostam District.
