Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation is an agency of the Government of India responsible for urban poverty, housing, and employment programs. It is involved in national policy decisions and coordinates with Indian central ministries, state governments, and central sponsor programs. The organisation's minister, as of June 2014, is Venkaiah Naidu. The Ministry acquired its present form after the former "Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation" was split in 2004 from the Ministry of Urban Development.
