Norman No. 1 Oil Well

Norman No. 1 Oil Well Site is the site of an abandoned oil well, located at the Northeast corner of Mill and First Streets in Neodesha, Kansas, which was drilled on November 28, 1892. According to the National Historic Landmarks program, the well signifies the beginning of development of the Mid-Continent oil field. The Norman No. 1 Oil Well Site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. It was further declared a National Historic Landmark in 1977.
