North 1 East

North 1 East is an English Rugby Union League at the sixth tier of the domestic competition (Prior to 2009/10 it was known as North 2 East, prior to 2000/01 it was known as North 2). North 1 East is made up of teams from around Northeastern England (principally Northumberland, County Durham and Yorkshire) who play home and away matches throughout a winter season. Promotion and relegation determine the makeup of the league each season, with the top team automatically moving into National League 3 North. The second placed team enters into a play-off match with the second placed team in North 1 West. The bottom three teams drop into the top divisions of local rugby - Durham/Northumberland 1 and Yorkshire 1.
