Northenden railway station was located in the southern part of Manchester, England. It was built by the Stockport, Timperley and Altrincham Junction Railway (ST&AJ) and was opened for both passenger and goods traffic on 1 February 1866. From 15 August 1867 the ST&AJ became part of the Cheshire Lines Committee (CLC). From 1 January 1923 the CLC was jointly owned by the London and North Eastern Railway (two-thirds ownership) and the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (one-third ownership). However, the CLC continued to retain its separate identity and management.
