The Ryder Tournament was a professional golf tournament played at Verulam Golf Club in St Albans, England and sponsored by the Samuel Ryder. The event was held just once, in 1928, and had total prize money of £500. The tournament was played over two days, 11 and 12 July with 36 holes of stroke-play each day. The tournament was restricted to the first 24 British professionals in the 1928 Open Championship. The players had to be resident in Britain. The Times noted that it was "in the nature of a British Close Championship".
