Umueshi

Umueshi is a community in Ideato South Local Government Area in Imo State, Nigeria. It is the home of Umueshi Gully Erosion intervention project by the World Bank. The community comprises 15 villages which include: Okorobi, Umuezeanuwai, Umunwangwu, Umuanajughi, Ukabi, Umuokwara, Umudieshi, Okoroikpa, Umuduruaku, Umudire, Obinugwu, etc. Umueshi is a Christian community. There are two major denominations: Catholic and Anglican. The native inhabitants of Umueshi speak Igbo and English fluently, and their main occupations are agriculture and trade. The Umueshi people are peace-loving people who maintain cordial relations with their neighbours: Ntueke, Amanator, Ogboko, Obohia, Isiekenesi, Dikenafai, Umuobom, Ugbelle, Umuma-isiaku, Umuchima and Urualla.
