(444004) 2004 AS1

(444004) 2004 AS1 (also written 2004 AS1), also known by the temporary name AL00667, is an Apollo-class near-Earth asteroid, first discovered on January 13, 2004, by the LINEAR project. Based on the asteroids brightness and assumed proximity to Earth, the asteroid was originally estimated to be only 30 meters in diameter. The general media did not get hold of the story at the time. With an absolute magnitude (H) of 20.5, the asteroid is now known to be around 210–470 meters (690–1,540 feet) in diameter, depending on the albedo (the amount of light it reflects).
