1963 American Football League season

The 1963 American Football League season was the fourth regular season of the American Football League (AFL). The season ended when the San Diego Chargers defeated the Boston Patriots in the AFL championship game – to this date the only major league championship won by the Chargers and the city of San Diego. The original eight franchises of 1960 remained, but two underwent name changes, with one relocating. The New York Titans changed their team colors and were renamed the New York Jets; the defending AFL champion Dallas Texans moved north to Missouri and became the Kansas City Chiefs.
