In April and May 2016, India experienced a major heat wave. A national record high temperature of 51.0 °C (123.8 °F) was set in the town of Phalodi, in the state of Rajasthan. A total of over 160 people have died and 330 million affected. There are also water shortages. Drought has worsened the heat wave.
