2016 New York and New Jersey bombings

On September 17–19, 2016, three bombs exploded, and several explosive devices were found in the New York metropolitan area. The events occurred in Seaside Park, New Jersey; Manhattan, New York; and Elizabeth, New Jersey. On September 19, the suspect — Ahmad Khan Rahimi, of Elizabeth — was captured, following a shootout with police in the neighboring Linden, NJ. Rahimi's actions were allegedly influenced by the extremist Islamic ideology espoused by al-Qaeda.
