Alexander Hamilton (Scottish physician)

Prof Alexander Hamilton FRSE FRCSE FRCPE (1739-1802) was a Scottish physician. He was a co-founder of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1783. He was one of the first persons to recognise that puerperal fever was infectious. He was Professor of Midwifery at Edinburgh University.
