Bełchatów [bɛu̯ˈxatuf] (German: Belchental) is a town in central Poland. It is located in Łódź Voivodeship, 160 kilometres (99 miles) from Warsaw. Bełchatów has the largest coal fuelled thermal power plant in Europe, the Elektrownia Bełchatów, also, one of largest fossil fuel power stations in the world. It produces 27-28 TWh of electricity per year, or 20% of the total power generation in Poland.
