Central Spine Road

Central Spine Road or Kuala Krai - Kuala Pilah Highway, Federal Route 34, is a new highway under construction in the center of Peninsula Malaysia, Malaysia. It is a toll-free highway. The 325 km (201 miles) highway replaces the former two-lane Federal Route 8 Gua Musang Highway and Federal Route 9 Karak-Tampin highway. The construction starts on Package 3 which is from Merapoh to Kampung Relong. It starts there because the Gua Musang Highway passes through Chegar Perah which is prone to roadkill. The highway had a long eco-viaduct built there. Package 5 which is from the northern Raub to Karak will be built next, which will connect it to the E8 Karak Highway bypassing Bentong and Mempaga. This will also avoid the steep mountainous grade between Raub & Bentong.
