The film was screened at several film festivals worldwide, including the Directors' Fortnight in the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.An explicit cunnilingus between Paoli Dam and Anubrata Basu depicted in the film, caused uproar in India, especially in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal state, where the film was mainly shot.
