Chizu, Tottori

Chizu (智頭町 Chizu-chō) is a town located in Yazu District, Tottori Prefecture, Japan. As of 2015, the town has an estimated population of 7,110. The total area is 224.61 km². The population has been steadily declining since the 1970s. Because of this decline, in March 2012 the town closed down six elementary schools and opened a single integrated school. There is also one junior high school and one agricultural and forestry high school. The main industry in the area is logging, woodworking, tourism, and brewing.
