Commission Against Corruption (Macau)

The Commission Against Corruption (CCAC, Comissariado contra a Corrupção in Portuguese) is an official entity of Macau responsible for the prevention, investigation and (probably) prosectution of corrupt activities. It was established in the Special Administrative Region in 1999 after China resumed sovereignty, pursuant to article 59 of its Basic Law and modelled after Hong Kong's Independent Commission Against Corruption. The CCAC replaced the High Commission Against Corruption and Administrative Illegality created in 1990 and began operations in 1992.
