Edonis (region)

Edonis or Edonida (Ancient Greek: Ἠδωνίς, Ἠδωνίδα) also transliterated as Edonia, was an ancient country of Thrace which later became a district of Macedon. Its name is derived from the ancient Thracian inhabitants of the region, Edonians. It was bordered on the north with Odomantis, on the west with Bisaltia, on the south with Aegean sea and on the east was separated from Thrace by river Nestos.
