Hakusan, Ishikawa

Hakusan (白山市 Hakusan-shi) is a city located in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. The modern city of Hakusan was established on February 1, 2005, from the merger of the city of Mattō, and the towns of Mikawa and Tsurugi, and the villages Kawachi, Oguchi, Shiramine, Torigoe and Yoshinodani (all from Ishikawa District). As of April 1, 2008 population data, the city has an estimated population of 110,654 and a population density of 147 persons per km2. The total area is 755.17 km2. Kōji Omote, a popular and successful mixed martial arts fighter, lives and trains in Hakusan.
