The James Prendergast Library is an association library located in Jamestown, New York. On the day it opened its doors to the public, December 1, 1891, The Evening Journal noted, "The opening of the Prendergast Library marks an important epoch in our local history. Few communities can boast so magnificent a public gift." In 2014, the library contained 179,746 individual works and received 208,080 visitors.The current Executive Director is Tina Scott, who was appointed by the Board of Trustees in April 2013, but had been filling the role as Acting Director since September 2012.
