Its transmitter is located in Wilmington, California. The station first broadcast from the Jergins Trust Building in Long Beach in 1924 as KFON on 1290 kHz. It moved to 1240 kHz in 1927. The 1928 frequency reallocation resulted in a move to 1250 kHz. It moved to its current 1280 kHz frequency as a result of the NARBA agreement in 1941.
