Kindred Spirits (sculpture)

Kindred Spirits is a large stainless steel outdoor sculpture in Bailic Park in Midleton, Ireland. The sculpture consists of nine 20-foot (6.1 m) stainless steel eagle feathers arranged in a circle, no two feathers being identical. It was created by Alex Pentek at the Sculpture Factory in Cork, Ireland and installed in Bailic Park in 2015. Kindred Spirits commemorates the contribution of US$170 (about $4,300 in 2017 dollars) by the American Choctaw Indians to famine relief in 1847, during the Great Hunger, just a few years after the Choctaw themselves had endured the Trail of Tears.
