Forty-three persons have served as President of the United States since the office came into existence in 1789. Of these, thirty-eight have died. Following is a list of each deceased U.S. president's place of burial, along with date of death. The state with the most presidential burial sites is Virginia with seven. Additionally, there are three sites at which two presidents are interred.
