Los Altos (Jalisco)

Los Altos (Spanish for "The Highlands") is a geographic region in the eastern part of the Mexican state of Jalisco. It is part of the macroregion of Bajío, Los Altos is one of the two main tequila producing regions in the state of Jalisco, the other being the municipality of Tequila, Jalisco. The main tequila producing center in the region is Arandas. The Los Altos region is known as the most European influenced region in all of Mexico. It is estimated that the majority of the population here is of 80 to 90% European descent. Consisting mainly of Spanish, and Basque heritage.
